Only A Theory

This Website is new, and is under construction. This page is my first attempt to create and upload a web page to the hosting site.

The animal playing with the camera is an echidna, an Australian monotreme. I just like the picture, so I stuck it on this experimental page to prove to myself that I know how to link pictures and text.

What's the point of this website? “Only A Theory” is supposed to be ironic. I want to use this space to argue that the Theory of Evolution is anything but “a theory”, i.e. a tentative proposition, as its (religious) critics claim. This is certainly a waste of my time, because the ones who make the argument aren't susceptible to logic or reason. Their mental world is ruled by magic and phantoms. I've been an agnostic since an epiphany at the age of ten or so, when I realized the stories of the Bible were no more plausible than Santa Claus, and in the following half century I was content to let the religious go their way while I went mine. Then comes the modern religious right, and George Bush. Yet again, historically, but for the first time in my life, the superstition-ridden are seriously interfering with human progress. Critical areas of medical research are impeded. Science curricula are dictated by the utterly ignorant.
